The Varied Symptoms of Prolapsed Uterus

Prolapsed uterus (also named uterine or pelvic organ prolapse) is when the uterus tumbles down towards the vaginal opening. A prolapse befalls when the ligaments that clutch the pelvic organs in place are strained or enfeebled. Without the support, the uterus can drop frontward. If it drips forward all the way into the vaginal passage, it is named as prolapse. Specialists use a grading system to describe how far the uterus has plunged — grade 1 is mild, grade 2 is moderate and grade 3 is severe. In some females, the bladder and bowel can also prolapse. If the bladder lumps into the front wall of the vagina, it is named as cystocoele. If the bowel humps through the back wall, it is named as rectocoele. Prolapse generally deteriorates without prolapse uterus treatment non-surgical option, so it is imperative to seek medical assistance. Females who have a prolapse may feel:

  • an incapability to wholly empty the bladder or the bowel when going to the toilet
  • straining to get urine flow ongoing, or to empty it
  • a feeling of weightiness or dragging in the pelvis or vagina
  • a protuberance or bulge in, or out of, the vagina
  • bowel or bladder complications
  • pain during sex
  • lower back pain

Childbirth is the chief reason of prolapse, and is because of the baby stretching and ripping support tissues as it passes down the vagina. Other causes consist of:

  • protracted constipation
  • repetitive heavy lifting
  • lingering coughing
